Jonny's V-2 Rocket Launch

We are having a Rocket Launch Celebration on October 24, 2009 to commemorate the completion of Jonny's German V-2 Rocket that Uncle Rob gave him a decade ago. It's about time. The celebration will begin with food and fun at the Hardy Home at 12:30 pm. We will head down to the Elementary where the Launch is set for 1:00 pm. Pray for clear weather!

Ghosts of Halloween Past

I think our favorite Halloween ever was in 2002. Grandma Weiler made Alexis a leprechaun costume and Lexi was so happy she clicked her heels. Jonny and his friends borrowed genuine Highland High Cheerleader outfits and went as Highland Hotties. Grandma Weiler also made Emily her cute cheerleader outfit. (I tried to convince her to go red, but no dice.) Our Hannah banana was just so cute as the Littlest Witch. The weather was beautiful. This was at our home in Stratford East.

Autumn Treasures

Conference weekend was so beautiful! We headed up Millcreek Canyon for a picnic betougween Saturday sessions. We missed Jonny at our picnic. He was asked over to lunch by a really cute girl. There is already snow in our mountains. We found a fun spot by the creek to have our lunch and enjoy the changing colors. These are my autumn treasures.

What Matters Most

Autumn Harvest

I just love autumn. I love the fall colors in all their splendor. I love the harvest. I have the most wonderful memories of harvesting fruits and vegetables with my family from our large garden when I was growing up. Our kitchen was a canning extravaganza. My mother was always covered in either raspberries or tomatoes. I think the amount of corn I’ve shucked in my lifetime is higher than I can count. Those were the days when parents had uninterrupted time to actually talk to their children. What else can you do when shucking corn? The smell of corn silk still evokes pleasant memories that make me smile. Our kids enjoy trekking through Uncle Rob's pumpkin patch to select that oh so perfect jack-o'-lantern!

Hannah's Baptism

Our sweet Hannah was baptized on September 5th. What a beautiful day! Her father baptized her and her grandpas witnessed. Her brother Jonny was just recently ordained an Elder and was able to stand in the confirmation circle. After the confirmation, Grandpa Hardy spoke about the Holy Ghost and recharging your spirit. Afterwards, Hannah sang "When I am baptized." Her song was so sweet it made her mother cry. Her mother spoke about how Hannah is the Hebrew word for "grace" and how much her family loves her. Hannah received a nice set of the Holy Scriptures and many nice presents from her family and friends. The Bishop gave final remarks and said Hannah looked like an angel. It was such a special day. We love our Hannah!

Eagle Court of Honor

August 30th was Jonny's Eagle Court of Honor. We held the ceremony at our home in the backyard. This was a special day for Jonny and our family. We made it a big party with two of Jonny's good friends, Hayden Smith and Alex Viehweg. These boys grew up together in our old neighborhood and Stratford East Ward. They wanted to receive their Eagle Awards together. Congratulations to our fine young men!

The Big Splash

We took a trip to Disneyland this summer and this was Hannah's first time on Splash Mountain. She is finally tall enough to ride the "big" rides. She loved it! She was so brave, she even went on the GhostRider Coaster at Knottsberry Farm!

While we were checking out the photos for Splash Mountain, some lady commented on Emily saying, "Oh look, that little girl was so scared she was praying!" Haha. Though perhaps we need to rethink our action photos. The man in charge of photography yelled at us for having a "prop" i.e. Jonny's water bottle. We had to coax him into selling us the photo. He didn't want to give it to us!

Those rowdy Hardys. :-)
